Welcome students to the Next Greatest Generation web portal! NG2 was developed to show you the fun side of engineering while informing you on the exciting careers available to you in the Engineering fields. Use our data-mine tool and input your interest, passions, and hobbies to discover a custom fit engineering field just for you.
You can also join a social networking site called 'My Mind & My Friends' to make new friends, and create your own space. Experience on-line games, challenge simulations, and an engineering game show that will help you expand your knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and math. Earn Bit points and redeem them at the Bits store for items to fill your virtual engineering club.
Web-based discussion groups on topics relevant to engineering, technology, student loans, events, school/life balance, universities, seeking jobs or internships, and diversity in engineering and science.
Campaign similar to the 1940's war effort in the U.S. Except this one is to arm our students with the technology to win back our dominance in engineering, manufacturing, and world trade.
Creatively written page for students to learn how/why we are losing the war on technology and engineering here in the U.S.
Call to duty... That we need their help!
Students can explore careers in Engineering with job descriptions, daily activities, skill requirements, salary, training required, and on-line videos interviews from engineers.
On-line Data-mining tool that will have the students answer a number of different questions (interest, hobbies, passions) to fit them with a tailored engineering field just for them.
Games and Hands-on Activities will be linked to each engineering career to give the student a little experience in each engineering field.
Search function that allows the student the ability to search engineering careers by keywords.
Ad banner space for companies/universities to a captured demographic audience.
The Challenge Simulation game is a working model of a global problem such as a natural disaster, world hunger, or environmental catastrophe.
The Challenge Simulation is updated in real-time from the data it receives from the 40 individual games that students play and send information from.
Teachers and Students can log in to see their simulated project to review its progress, potential problem areas, and current achievements.
40 on-line games. Each game will have a goal to solve that is an important subset of the Global Challenge Simulation. This allows all grade pods to work together as a team to solve a much larger problem or engineering feat.
Games are archive by grade pods and come complete with summary, background information, directions, plus links back to the specific engineering career(s) involved.
Students can start their very own local engineering club. Do fun, cool activities like build a virtual club house, receive a Mind Rocket starter kit, receive new hands-on engineering activities every month.
Recruit local engineers/high school students as club mentors.
Field trips to local engineering/manufacturing facilities.
Clubs receive 'Bits' to use in the Bits Store.
Students pick from a list of their everyday engineered products, such as a MP3 player, Control Pad, Cell Phone, DVD Burner, etc., to learn how they work.
They are able to adjust some of the design parameters to see how THEIR new design has affected unit price, performance, esthetics, and other engineering variables.
Each everyday engineered product will have a link back to the specific Engineering Career(s) that were involved in the actual product design.
Ad banner space for companies & products to a captured demographic audience.
Students create their very own social networking space (page) with personal and professional interests, photos, create blogs, user profiles, e-mail, chat, etc. This will help create a sense of community on the Innovation Generation site.
Additions and new features being added constantly.
Students get printable coupons for filling out a space on the site (Video rental, pizza, music downloads, etc.
Ad banner space for coupon suppliers to a captured demographic audience.
Roll up your sleeves and lets get busy.
